            The municipality has a total land area of 92,326 hectares.  Based  on the survey, these were divided into built-up,
       agriculture, swamps, forest and idle land.

            It is a 2nd class municipality and is composed of 18 barangays namely: Aberawan, Bagong Bayan, Barotuan, Bebeladan,
       Busana, Buena Suerte, Corongcorong, Mabini, Maligaya, Manlag, Masagana, New Ibajay, Pasadena, San Fernando, Sibaltan,
       Teneguiban, Villa Libertad and Villa Paz.



 
            The climate of El Nido is characterized by 2 distinct seasons; the dry season  from December to May and wet season
        from June to November. April is the driest month while August is the rainiest, usually accompanied by persistent gales and
        monsoon rains.


 
            The total population of El Nido in  year 2000 survey from the National Statistics Office is 2,7029. Almost 85% of the
        population lives in the rural barangays and 15% of which are in Poblacion or town proper distributed as follows:



 

            In terms of communication. El Nido is considered advance compared to other municipalities due to the availability of
        SMART and GLOBE cellular phones, as well as cable and satellite televisions and transistor radios.  Newspapers and
        magazines are also available daily to subscribers being transported from Manila by a private plane owned by a big resort
        in the locality.

             The Post Office is located in Poblacion manned by one (1) Postmaster.  A TELECOM is also available with one (1)
        personnel.  Incoming communications for the barangays are sent through water vessels plying the EL Nido-Manila route
        and vice-versa.

             Since 1998, with the construction of the circumferential road connecting the northern barangays from Villa Liberted,
        Pasadena, Barotuan, Teneguiban, San Fernando, Sibalatan, Villa Paz, New Ibajay and back to El Nido town.  Barangay
        residents were able to bring their agricultural products to the Poblacion daily.

             Transportation going to the province capital, Puerto Princesa City and vice-versa is thru jeepneys and buses or
        sometimes use pump boats during rainy seasons when road connecting El Nido-Taytay is not passable.  There is a private
        plane flying El Nido to Puerto Princesa and vice-versa twice a week.

             In going to Manila, passengers used it take the water vessels plying the El Nido-Manila-El Nido route every week.  A
        passenger ship plying Manila Liminangcong and vice-versa also serves the residents of El Nido.

             In addition, a private airplane owned by Ten Knots Development Corporation also serves the transportation needs
        of the local residents with their usual daily flights from Manila-ElNido and vice-versa.  Another private airplane is serving
        the residents and tourist from El Nido flying every Monday and Wednesday from Manila-Busuanga-El Nido-Puerto Princesa
        City, Cuyo Island and vice-versa.
       

 
             Poblacion barangays avail the Level II Water System of the municipal government except Barangay Corong-corong
         wherein 10% of the populace can be reach by the Level II water supply, while other barangays are still dependent on
         the deep wells and springs.


 

              Presently, there is an electric power plant being run by the Palawan Electric Cooperative (PALECO) serving the four (4)
          barangays in the Poblacion.  The electric service starts at 1:00 PM and ends at 1:00 AM.


 


              Most of the people are either fisher folk or farmers, as fishing and
          agriculture are the two main stable sources of income.  Tourism and
          nido-nest gathering are also seen as economic opportunities, but these are
          relatively seasonal.
